SUMOBOT

Year: Spring 2018

GOAL: create a robot to participate in a 'sumobot' competition. The robot must automatically detect and avoid the edges of the ring, and push opponents out of the ring.

FEATURES:

TECHNICAL DETAILS

The robot's body was designed in OnShape to be manufactured using laser cutting and 3D printing. The batteries and electronics are hidden inside the square body. The front of the robot has a wedge to help it get underneath opponents. The infrared sensors are also mounted on the front of this wedge. Impact sensors were created using arcade buttons and a simple lever mechanism, which allows the robot to react to other bots trying to push it.
